A Message from the Co-Chairs

We are truly astounded with the unprecedented way in which the Brown community—alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends—came together to support the University through the 2011-2012 Annual Fund. This online honor roll celebrates Brown’s supporters and offers us the opportunity to recognize you proudly and publicly.

Your collective efforts, as donors and volunteers, enabled us to commemorate the conclusion of President Ruth J. Simmons’ eleven-year tenure with two major Brown Annual Fund records, setting new highs for both total contributions and donors. A total of 36,350 donors contributed $36,587,521 to benefit Brown's students and faculty, exemplifying the power of broad community participation. We are grateful for and awed by these outstanding achievements. Your outpouring of support is a powerful indication of the strength of our institution.

You are the energy behind many of the University’s signature attributes and achievements. Through your generosity, you enable deserving students to attend Brown regardless of their financial means; help attract and retain leading faculty; offer valuable research awards to undergraduates; provide our graduate students with essential support; help Brown's newest students transition into academia through first-year seminars; and give all of our scholars access to critically important library and technology resources.

Thank you for partnering with the University to advance our mission, continue to develop our strengths, and lay the foundation for the next chapter of our history. As we move ahead, your continued commitment will enable our deserving students and outstanding faculty to have and create transformative experiences that are uniquely “Brown.”
